This statement is made pursuant to Section 54 of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015, applicable EU directives on combating trafficking in human beings (Directive 2011/36/EU), and KidStarter's commitment to ethical business practices globally.
1. Our Organization
[KIDSTARTER LEGAL NAME] is a technology platform enabling fundraising for students' educational needs. We operate in the EU/EEA, United Kingdom, United States, and Canada.
2. Our Commitment
KidStarter is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all aspects of our business and supply chain. We have zero tolerance for modern slavery, forced labor, debt bondage, human trafficking, and child labor.
3. Our Supply Chain
Our supply chain includes: cloud infrastructure and hosting providers; payment processing providers; email and communication services; analytics and monitoring tools; content moderation tools; professional services (legal, accounting, audit); and hardware and office services.
4. Policies and Procedures
We maintain the following to prevent modern slavery:
- Supplier Code of Conduct requiring compliance with modern slavery laws;
- Due diligence on new suppliers including assessment of modern slavery risk;
- Contractual clauses in supplier agreements requiring compliance and cooperation;
- Whistleblower protections for reporting concerns (see Universal Reporting Policy);
- Employee training on recognizing indicators of modern slavery.
5. Risk Assessment
We assess modern slavery risk based on: the nature of the supplier's business; geographic risk factors; labor practices; and the supplier's own modern slavery policies and due diligence.
Given that KidStarter is primarily a technology platform with a digital supply chain, our direct exposure to modern slavery risk in our supply chain is assessed as low. However, we remain vigilant and conduct periodic reviews.
6. Due Diligence
For all significant suppliers, we:
- Review their modern slavery policies and statements;
- Include modern slavery compliance clauses in contracts;
- Monitor for adverse media regarding modern slavery;
- Reserve the right to audit or terminate relationships where concerns are identified.
